ABOUT YOU:
If you have come to this website you are separated or
thinking about separating from your spouse. You are probably
looking for an alternative to the often destructive and
expensive alternative of litigation. By the time you have
reached my niche in this website you have done some research
and know that collaborative family law is aimed at providing
a more cooperative method of finding "win/win" solutions
to your marital problems. You are looking to use your
energy to create a solution that will work for your family.
You have seen collaborative family law promoted as a "kinder,
gentler and often cheaper" way of achieving this end.
You may be married, or not. You may be in a heterosexual
relationship, or not. Most important, you may have children
and if you do, they will need both parents and all the
love and resources you can give them.
You may have assets and debts accumulated during your
marriage, perhaps an inheritance.
You want to find a fair and respectful way of dealing
with these issues without making your spouse an adversary.
You want to proceed with honesty and integrity. You want
strong legal representation without the threat of court
proceedings.
ABOUT ME:
I was a psychiatric nurse in my other life working primarily
in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. I was the
Director of a crisis centre, Executive Director of the
Northwest Territories Mental Health Association, worked
for the NWT Native Women's Association and as the Director
of the NWT Status of Women. Throughout I have had a strong
and active involvement with my community and been a member
of many boards and committees and an advocate for matters
I feel strongly about. I changed careers, graduated from
law school in 1988 and have practised exclusively as a
family law lawyer since1990, in Richmond since 1993.
ABOUT US:
You have many fine collaborative family practitioners
to choose from on this site. If you think you and I could
work together, please contact me and I will be delighted
to discuss how we could proceed.
