BIOGRAPHY:
Nancy has practiced family law since 1988. Her practice is predominately settlement work in mediation and collaborative practice. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked in Early Childhood Education and taught developmental psychology. She has been a family law mediator since 1991 and is a member of the BC Mediator Roster Society (Family). She was one of the founders and first co-chair with Susan Gamache, of the Collaborative Divorce Association of Vancouver. Nancy is both a speaker and an award-winning trainer in the inter-disciplinary model of collaborative practice. She has written a book on collaborative practice for the professional community, Collaborative Practice: Deepening the Dialogue. Nancy has taught a course on collaborative practice at the UBC Law School as an adjunct professor for three years. She continues to be involved locally in bringing change to the structure and the practice of family law, and has been a member of the British Columbia Supreme Court Rules Revision Committee since 1998, a board member of the Dispute Resolution Practicum Society since 2002, and was a member of the Family Justice Reform Working Group for British Columbia. |
