BIOGRAPHY:
Deborah Brakeley is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and
Collaborative Divorce Coach in private practice on the
West Side. She has worked with families in various counselling
capacities since 1983. She approaches her work from a
holistic perspective. That is, she takes into account
the practical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects
of separation and the loss that families experience during
this profound transition in their lives. She includes
educational aspects of counselling, such as communication
and conflict resolutions skills, as she helps parents
develop a parenting plan and co-parenting strategies.
She supports children as they cope with their own experience
of loss and parents as they strive to meet their children's
needs. She draws on her Collaborative Divorce and advanced
mediation training in her work as a Divorce Coach.
Deborah is one of the founding members and former Co-Chair
of the Collaborative Divorce Association of B.C. As well,
she provides basic interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce
training for CLE and presentations for the IACP's Collaborative
Practice Networking Forums. As a Board Member of the International
Academy of Collaborative Professionals, she is able to
explore and help shape the future of Collaborative Practice.
